You can build a WordPress blog for free, but how do you make money with it?

Are you looking to make money online? More than 30 percent of websites use WordPress to make money. It is the most popular publishing platform on the entire World Wide Web. You can explore blogging and WordPress to earn cool and legitimate money online doing what you enjoy from the comfort of your home. It is possible to work remotely, from your home, and make as much money as you like.

This Article will discuss the top “amazing” ways you can monetize a blog online with WordPress.

Making Money with WordPress

As you gradually develop and enrich your website with quality content, you can get much income from it. You aren’t looking for an easy way to make money online and get rich overnight. Do not be misled by images of luxurious mansions, cars, and people working at the beach. There are a lot of scam offers online and you will be wasting so many funds on any training or courses that they offer.

The techniques I’ll discuss here may require you to invest some time or money in order to get results in no time. You’ll reap the rewards if you are willing to work hard. You will need to create a self-hosted WordPress blog before you can explore any of these proven techniques.

It doesn’t matter if you are 20 or 50 years old, the process is straightforward. If you have any questions, after you’ve set up your blog, you can follow this guide.

This is something I’ve wondered about many times before I discovered people doing it! Let me show you how? There are many people who have done very well with free WordPress blogs and you too can.

Getting Started with a Free WordPress Blog

Many people stumble upon WordPress, click a few buttons to select the default themes, and then start writing blogs. This is something I did in the beginning. My old blogger blog, which I started long ago, is still available. It is quite amateurish. It was my first blog.

Back then, Content, headlines, and SEO were all new to me. It never crossed my mind that I could make money with my blog if I did it right. Since then, a lot has happened. I now have a WordPress Blog (paid for), and I’ve mastered how to market it, improve it’s search engine optimization (SEO), and get free traffic to it.

Once you have free organic traffic (free traffic through search engines), you’ll start making cool money from your website visitors. People like you can also make money from free WordPress blogs.

Many successful bloggers started their WordPress Blog with $0 without any idea of what it would become. They worked hard at it. Sometimes, they would leave for several months to focus on other projects and then return to add more content.

Seven to eight months later they returned to the sites and were amazed to find that they were already receiving around hundreds of unique visitors per week! Sixty-five percent of these visitors were from search engines and this equated to more than four thousand unique visitors per month in 2013. Mind you, the affiliate marketing niche has exploded since then, especially since Covid entered the scene.

There’s never been a time more suitable to start earning money online.

Back in 2013 I was motivated me to build my own WordPress Blog for free, monetize it, and prove to the world that you can make money with a WordPress Blog.

8 Steps to a Successful Blog Post

The eight steps that lead to a successful post are simple. Here they are

1. Aim for a 1000-word Piece or Longer

At least 1,000 words should be your word count. Better would be long-form posts of lengths 1500+ words. If you are able to manage 1,800+ words, it is the best length. But. remember when first starting out you might find it difficult to write a long blog, especially if you haven’t completed too much writing in the past. Believe me when I tell you that it will get easier.

When I wrote my first blog I struggled to get to 500 words. Then I discovered a great technique to help me write longer blogs and more of them. At the beginning of the working week I would research the web and find out what my competitors wrote about. I would write down and study those blogs that interested me most and what I thought would also interest my audience.

You will need to remember that you are never to copy someone another person’s work, but there’s no issues with researching and studying their blogs. When you construct your own article, use your own words. Be Unique and set your own tone. Always be honest.

From that research I would construct a list of possible blog Titles for the week. I would then research further and write headings and subheadings under each Title. This would simply be ideas to work on. Then it becomes easier to simply expand on each heading, write a conclusion and BAM!! you have your article.

2. Focus on providing value for money.

You must provide quality, value-driven Content if you want to retain your visitors’ attention and not make them leave your site. They are reading your words hoping to find the answer to the search query they have entered. Your Readers will leave if you don’t deliver. Your Readers will probably never return.

3. Create an Introduction to Make Money from a Free WordPress Website

A short introductory paragraph should not exceed 160 characters. Your keywords or phrase should be included in this paragraph. These keywords should not be repeated more than three times for a 1,000- to 1,500-word article. Your keywords should appear in your title, first heading, and in the first paragraph.

Once upon a time you would repeat them two or three times later in your article. But that’s probably no longer the case. Google has changed the landscape in regard to this and if you mention your keyword or keyword phrase to often, it might be seen as spam.

What are Keywords? Well that’s another story for another blog. Or you could click on my link below to find out more. As a quick summary I’ll just state that they are words or phrases that are the ones people are most likely to use when they are searching for information on the search engines.

4. You Should Write Four to Five Sections

Your sections should not exceed 300 words each. Avoid using complicated words and keep your paragraphs and sentences short. Your Content should be easy to understand and not frustrating your reader with complicated sentence structures. Your readers should not be bored to death.

These rules will ensure that your writing fits within the FleschKincaid reading range of 60-70, or an American 8th grade student. Each section should have a sub-heading.

5. Keep Your Audience Engaged

As I’ve said before, make your reading experience easy. Make it easy for your readers. Write in an informal style. Let your audience feel like they were having a conversation with you. Use language that your audience will find very simple to understand. How much fun it will seem like if your audience feel that you understand every bit of their problem.

6. Craft an Attention-Grabbing Headlines

Your headlines are the most important part of any article that you post to your blog. The headlines are what most people look at first. I like to use headlines for each new topic in my blog. I use sub headlines within the blogs. The headlines should be printed in H3 and the sub headlines I usually print in bold type.

These headlines and sub headlines should have the effect of making the reader want more information. They should state just enough to make someone interested.

7. Conclusion

Every piece of content should contain a concluding section. Although the closing section should have a sub-heading called “Conclusion”, it is not always true. SEO professionals who are more knowledgeable stick with “Conclusion” and I don’t see any reason to change.

8. Your Call to Action

Although it’s okay to have several call to actions within your article, you don’t want to many, this can also upset Google and other search engines.

A call to action is simply a message that is converted into a link that takes visitors to another page on your site or an invitation to click an Affiliate Link to make a purchase, and thus earn you (the author) a commission. It can also be in the form of a button or banner.

Your last Call to Action (or CTA) should be in the final paragraph. The CTA could also be to sign up

for a newsletter, or to receive a freebie.

So What Do You Do Next.

There is far more to Constructing an online website then most people realize. Yes, it can be easy if you know a little about WordPress, plugins SEO etc., But it can be daunting if you don’t. But this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try. It’s just easier if you have the proper help.

However, I have discovered something easier for you.

Maybe you simply find developing your own website on WordPress from scratch too difficult. I do understand that sometimes what seems easy to one person isn’t so to another. This can be especially true when you pass a certain age or grew up in the baby boomer era as I did. We didn’t grow up with computers ( unless you were lucky enough to get a Commodore 64, and you certainly couldn’t do much with that). We also didn’t grow up with mobiles, which is a tool that Is used more and more today, yes even to build websites.

Not One, But Two Free Websites.

How would you like two free websites along with all the tools and information you require to build them. Added to this you can. Chose to accept further training, professional help and an incredible community where you will find other experts that are also ready to help you should you need it.

Nowadays I have around half a dozen websites. They were all easy to build and, for the price of hosting my original single site, I receive all the help I need, when I need it, and can build new sites in just moments.

Why don’t you start by checking out the two free sites and initial free training In mentioned earlier by on the banner below.

I hope you found this article informative. Please feel free to leave any comments below.

  1. This is one of those articles that I wish I had seen when I was looking for a program to help me start earning money online.  I tried several which didn’t have great instruction or lacked tech support.  I also tried several that had huge upsells that didn’t provide much value.  The Wealthy Affiliate program offers members great tech support, 150 instructional lessons, an experienced, helpful community and Word Press as you mentioned.  I hope that lots of people searching for a way to earn online see this article. I still use my original website, but have grown and now try to cover the points that you outlined for success.  This is a clear, thorough article on a way to begin an online business for free.

  2. Jim, I really enjoyed reading your article about making money with a free website. This is great advice for beginners to the blogging field. The simplicity with which you explain everything makes your article so easy to understand. I think we all wish we had read an article like yours before we ventured into blogging and affiliate marketing. Your 8 Steps to writing a successful blog post were particularly useful and well explained. Thanks for this.

  3. Thank you Jim for an excellent post. I wish I had noticed this when I was seeking a program to assist me in beginning to earn money online. I tried a handful, but there wasn’t much in the way of training or feedback, and there was a definite lack of technical support.
I eventually decided to join the Wealthy Affiliate program since it has a terrific community and everything you need to succeed.
I’m hoping that many people looking for a way to make money online will discover this and act quickly. Because the sooner you begin, the sooner you will begin to earn money.
It’s just like any other business, and you’ll have to put in a lot of effort, but it’s the first step toward no longer being a wage slave.

Take advantage of the offer, just like I did, and start your own online business. You will not be disappointed. I am only 5 months in and have secured a huge contract, all thanks to this community.

    1. Thank you Steve. There’s no doubt in my mind that if you wish to become a successful affiliate marketer, then Wealthy Affiliate is definitely the place to be.

  4. This is an article I would certainly recommend to friends who are attempting to build a work from home business, and who have little knowledge about getting started.

Having the opportunity to build a WordPress blog for free is a great attraction for anyone making their first attempt at online marketing.  I see that eventually there may be a need to invest some money.  However, I think that most people starting out would be happy to pay a minimal amount.

Procedures are clearly defined and I can honestly say that I would have been delighted to have access to great information such as this article when I was getting started with my home-based online business.

    1. Thank you Valerie. Building your very own website can definitely be an exciting venture . I’m just glad I am able to make the whole process a little bit easier for those just starting their online journey.
